With Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon awaiting his unrestricted free agent status to become official, he has already joined the conversation on his next step, announcing that he would like to play in his hometown for the Vancouver Canucks.

Brenden Dillon has played defense for the Winnipeg Jets since the 2021-22 season. He is currently waiting to become an unrestricted free agent, but has previously stated that he was happy enough with the team to would consider resigning.
"Brenden Dillon is a pending UFA. It sounds like he's happy in Winnipeg, feels like a good fit, and will also at least consider his options.

Also sounds like he wished he'd had a contract by now, but leaned on DeMelo and Winnipeg's history of summer signings.

So we'll see."
However, in a brief interview with Donnie and Dhali, Dillon was asked about the possibility of joining the Vancouver Canucks. His initial response was a joke about needing more people to put in a good word for him.
"Well Dhali between yourself and Donnie I might have to get some emails for some e-transfers to pump that up for me for the next couple of weeks."

After getting a laugh, the defenseman clarified, saying that he would be honored to play for his home team.
"You know for me, I think I can speak on account of every guy that plays in the NHL that's from BC. You know, how cool would that be to play for your hometown team."
This is not the first time Dillon has declared interest in playing for Vancouver, as he expressed the same ideas in 2020 during his last UFA pending period.
"Pending UFA defenceman Brenden Dillon wasn't shy about his interest in playing for the #Canucks, telling TSN 1040: 'To be a Canuck right now is a fun time.'"
With the July 1st date more than a month away, Dillon has a while before he can be certain of his home next season in the NHL. However, with his continued expression of interest in the Vancouver Canucks, this 33-year-old defenseman might get a chance to play for his hometown team before the end of his hockey career.
