The Winnipeg Jets have emerged as a perfect destination for Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agent Nicholas Robertson.

Five years after being drafted 53rd overall by the Maple Leafs, Nick Robertson has made it clear that he isn't interested in staying with the team. He has yet to sign a contract for the 2024-25 NHL season, and he likely won't do so before being traded to another team by general manager Brad Treliving.
Following a 27-point season with the Leafs, Robertson is looking to finally have a breakout season and perform at the level he knows he can reach.
A report suggested that he could find this fresh start with the Winnipeg Jets organization. It also states that the Jets and the Leafs could make a deal involving two young restricted free agents: Robertson and Cole Perfetti.
The Jets' 10th overall pick in 2020, Perfetti, struggled at the end of last season and was relegated to the team's fourth line for the final few games. In the playoffs, he didn't see any action until the fifth game against the Colorado Avalanche, being a healthy scratch for the first four games.
Clearly, it's hard for a young player to be scratched in the playoffs, and it can strain the player-management relationship.
With Robertson asking to be traded and Perfetti likely not fully happy in Winnipeg, the two RFAs could find what they're looking for with the Jets and the Leafs.
