Bruins forward Oskar Steen appears to be saying goodbye to his career in North America as he just signed a five-year deal with his home town team in Sweden.

Steen was a 6th round pick of the Bruins back in 2016. The 5'10" forward had a long road ahead of him to making the NHL, but he beat the odds, making his debut with the Bruins during the 2020-21 season, where he appeared in 3 games. Arguably the most memorable moment of his career came the following season when he scored his first career NHL goal in one of the most bizarre ways possible.

Steen would go on to play a total of 60 NHL games, all with the Bruins. 34 of those came this season, but he scored just 1 goal as he played a very small fourth line role. This likely contributed to his decision to head back to Sweden.

Steen's Swedish fans seem to be happy that he is coming back. Before he left he was developing into a Star at the SHL level and he will likely slot back into a top role with Färjestad next season.
Thank you to Oskar Steen for your tenure in Bostons organisation, always hoped for a permanent spot on the roster but super excited to have him at home in Färjestad again! 🤩
Steen had 4 goals and 8 points in his 60 career NHL contests. He had significantly more success at the AHL level, but he will be getting paid more to play in Sweden so ultimately it just makes sense for him to go home. As such, this will almost certainly be the end of his time in the NHL.
