Connor Hellebuyck is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL today, but according to these legends, that may not be the case.

It's no secret that Connor Hellebuyck has continually been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL in recent years, and in 2023-24, he may well be the front runner for the Vezina Trophy. If he does win, that would put him in the elite company of goaltenders that have multiple Vezina Trophies in their career, and he's carrying the Winnipeg Jets into the playoffs this season.
For some reason however, when the conversation comes up of the best goaltenders in the NHL, there are former goaltenders that simply don't put him on that level. First, we have Mike Vernon, a former Calgary Flames star who didn't include Hellebuyck in his top-five current goaltenders.
Connor Hellebuyck is absent from Brodeur's, Lundqvist's, and now Vernon's top five active goalies.

🤔🤔
Then we have Henrik Lundqvist, someone that won nothing of note in the NHL besides one Vezina Trophy, even if he is considered an icon in New York.
The King has spoken. 👑

Did Henrik Lundqvist (@HLundqvist) make the right picks? 🧱
Finally we have Martin Broduer, who is considered by some to be a top-five goaltender of all-time, but once again, he's disrespected the Winnipeg Jets star.
What do you think of Martin Brodeur's picks? 🤔
It's certainly tough to rank this current NHL goaltender group with so much talent all across the league, but given Hellebuyck's consistency over the years and his brilliance in 2023-24, no list of top goaltenders can ever be taken seriously without him on it.
